Caraway Seed Tea Recipe Ancient Remedy for Colic, Bronchitis, Improved Digestion

Caraway seed is an ancient remedy for digestive problems, bronchitis, and even colic. Warm tea itself tends to help digestion, but the properties of the caraway seed bring added benefit. The best way to experience the benefit is through tea which is simple to make at home if you have caraway seeds on hand.

Caraway Tea Recipe

For a one cup of tea, use about twelve ounces of water and a tablespoon of fresh caraway seed, or about two teaspoons of seed to one cup of water. Follow the simple steps below.

Place the water in a kettle and bring to boil.

Place your seeds in a tea cup.

Pour the boiling water over your caraway seeds.

Cover the tea cup with a plate or other cover to keep the heat of the water inside the cup.

Allow the tea to steep for at least fifteen minutes.

Pour tea into a second cup through a strainer, straining off the seeds.

Discard seeds.

Add honey to the tea to taste.

Alternatively, you may choose to boil the seeds in the water itself, boiling for 15-20 minutes as a quick method for getting maximum benefits out of your caraway. However, if you are able to wait overnight, your tea will be optimal if you allow it to steep for hours, much like an herbal infusion.

A Longer, More Effective Method

The key with good caraway tea is to let the tea steep to allow the benefits of the caraway seed to be diffused into the water. Consider making a large batch of tea and allowing it to steep overnight. This is a common technique used in herbal infusions to maximize the benefits of the tea. To use this method, simply do the following:

Bring one quart of water to a boil.

Pour boiling water over about three tablespoons of caraway seed waiting in a sauce pan.

Cover the saucepan with a well-fitting lid.

Allow saucepan to sit covered overnight.

In the morning, strain the tea into a jar for easy storage, straining out the seeds.

Enjoy this tea with honey until you are feeling better.

This tea will keep in your refrigerator for up to two weeks in a well-sealed container. Simply warm it up when you are ready for a cup of tea. It will also sit well in your kitchen all day long, so you could make a day's supply of caraway tea each evening before you go to bed. Using this method, you will have a high quality tea all day long, for as long as you need it.

Find fresh caraway seeds online or at a local ethnic market for the best value. Buy a supply for about six months so that you always have fresh caraway seeds on hand.

An Ancient Remedy For Pain and Other Ailments Conquer Modern Medicine For Back Pain Relief

Acupressure - A Forgotten Art for Pack Pain

There is a few different ailments and painful conditions that can be solved by some "forgotten arts" - those that were traditionally used, but eventually had to make way for newer, modern techniques. One such art or technique is that of acupressure (a close cousin of acupuncture). This technique is perhaps thousands of years old, and the only reason we still know about it is because it obviously still works.

In fact... people swear that the technique completely removes their back pain. For those unfamiliar with the techniques of acupressure, you'd certainly be surprised at how simple it is to experience, and the amazing results achieved.

The technique of acupressure is simply applying certain amounts of pressure on particular parts of the body using the fingers or thumbs -- in the same context of where acupuncture needles would also be placed. And believe it or not, acupressure can be even more effective than acupuncture, better results without needles!

The technique is especially useful for those suffering from back pain. Acupressure is becoming more popular in modern times as an effective technique. Check with your local homeopathic or naturopathic doctor for your nearest practitioner.

Modern medical science will generally fail to recognize the effectiveness of simple and natural healing techniques, so you may need to do your own research to verify the effectiveness. Some independent studies will tell you that after doing a double blind test amongst selected people, some of them receiving modern treatment, and others receiving acupuncture, the results said that those who used acupressure experienced the best pain relief and recovery from their chronic back pain.

It is quite strange that doctors and insurance companies will not grant acupressure as an effective and legitimate therapy, but hopefully things will change soon as more evidence comes to light of the positive benefits.

Naturally is up to you whether you'd like to try acupressure, but looking at the evidence and the treatment itself, there seems to be no down side to receiving the therapy, considering no needles or equipment is used, just the practitioner themselves.

It would certainly be a major benefit to you for the pain to eventually recede by using acupressure, and not relying on pharmaceuticals and synthetic medicine anymore.

As a general consensus of natural medicine practitioners goes, it is far better to treat the problem, rather than simply dealing with the symptoms.

A Remedy From Ancient China to Relieve Hot Flashes and More

First, ask yourself: What is a hot flash, really? Western medicine can confuse you with its technical explanation of what more simply for me, are hormones which are doing their dance. Just joking around with yourself would be a good way to start, especially if you take yourself seriously most of the time. Look on YouTube.com for a scientific answer about what hormones in females do, and you will be hard pressed to find an answer from doctors that will help you to help YOURSELF cool them down. We humans can learn to take our own health into our own hands by relaxing. Cerebral answers will make you tenser than before you started searching. All ancient people always used images to help them to relax.

We all have dancing hormones, (women are more famous for them, but men have them, too.) Imagine a nice, happy image of YOUR very own hormones dancing in YOUR brain and nervous system. It might be true that most people like to dance, but of course some do not. We are talking however about your very own hormones dancing, not the physical you being observed by anyone. Most people might have fun doing this if they take the time to practice this first exercise I right away give you in this article: Simply, in the safety of your own quiet space, acknowledge that YOUR OWN HORMONES can dance in a pleasant way in your body. This is a form of a positive mantra, or repeated words that are enhanced here by an image of, perhaps, little wiggly shapes that you imagine are hormones, dancing in your body. Nobody knows but you that you are doing this exercise. Indulge yourself and give it about five minutes of at least three repetitions. See how you feel after that and find a way to agree that you feel better than before you started. Looking at positive possibilities and suspending suspicions will help you. So many of women around the time of getting hot flashes need to play and relax!

We female humans are quite like the train of life that has been going along one type of track from the years after preteen and teen, and suddenly, even if we have been warned, there looms ahead a track switch that nearly topples the entire train. This is true for many but not all women. Some women naturally handle this change smoothly. Our modern world has made a dependence upon drugs seem a normal way to feeling happier and healthier than stress overload has permitted for so many. Really, what if a simple exercise like the one above could jumpstart you back toward a simpler and healthier, (and cheaper way,) toward feeling good. Ancient remedies allow you to stop taking lots of pharmaceuticals. You begin learning that you are in charge of cleaning up the jumpier nerves by eating healthier food and eventually learning these mind-spirit-emotion- transformative exercises that ask you to tune into yourself. You need to learn to focus on specific points in your body.

What are humans like you and me? A very simple answer is: beings walking around in electric bodies with varied currents pulsing through us. Ancient people were more tuned in to their electric and spiritual bodies and literally danced and chanted their way into transformation times. Nowadays, you must have watched three thousand commercials or so from drug companies. Do you get confused? Even with reading about more natural herbal remedies you may well get equally confused. It's no wonder that you might well opt for something simple and seemingly silly.

This answer might be to become more user friendly with your body. It takes training. Through practices like the one above and the next to follow, you can become sensitive enough to signals which indicate to you that you are coming into menopause. You can drop your fears by practicing to convince yourself that it IS a good time ahead to becoming a more mature woman. Start looking at yourself newly. Are you not just a body with signals that can be finely tuned? You no longer are sentenced to being lost and/or simply nervous.

Try this technique from Ancient China: Start to really get to know the points along your spine and some in front of your body, where you can focus your mind. This one technique that can be learned is called Ovarian Breathing. This is a first step to be practiced over and over every day at least 5 minutes and also at the onset of a hot flash. This first step may well lead you to experience yourself newly. Agree to yourself to go slowly and think of it as a fun type of game.

Begin by relaxing in a comfortable position. Sit upright or lay back on an angle, but in either choice of posture, keep your spine straight and supported. Feel open. It could be best done standing, especially if you tend to be "spacey." No matter which way, imagine you are rooted to the earth like a plant, (preferably a deeply rooted tree.) Keep up your awareness as you follow the summary below and continually re-engage your tree-like roots. Follow this summary of Ovarian Breathing. It is perfectly safe when done as suggested:

Smile a genuine smile and engage your endorphins and serotonin, which are some of the "feel good" neurotransmitters in your brain. Start letting those transmitters of good feelings start washing you from head to toe. Play with that idea/image awhile. Then do it in this more regulated manner:

Let the "Smiling Endorphin Wash" spin around your eyeballs as if you were wrapping them in gauze bandages, very lightly.

Now connect a spiraling line downward from each eye and do the same spiraling around your nipples.

Then spiral straight downward from the nipples to the ovaries, (or to where the ovaries were before a hysterectomy! You might need to look at an anatomy book.) Do that all in one soft, easy inhale. Three spirals at each station are enough.

Now exhale as you spiral inwardly to the uterus and then down to the perineum. (The bottom-most part of your torso where your sphincters are located.)

Let you mind go down the outside and front of your legs and know that your tree-like roots keep you safely connected to Mother Earth. Go back to the perineum via the inside and back of your legs.

Next, go up the sine on the following points, one by one. when you begin be in an attitude of being experimental until you feel you have felt you have found a variant in your experimentation that feels outstandingly better than others. Make certain to keep your breath relaxed and even and coming from your diaphragm, not your chest. Relax that chest and your shoulders. Spiral each next of six points lightly three times each in the direction that feels comfortable, or go both clockwise as well as counterclockwise at each point!

The first point is the sacred sacrum bone.

Follow with the vertebrae on your genuine waistline also called belt line, (Lumbar 2-3.)

Then the vertebrae above your bottom rib, (Thoracic 11.)

Next go to the big bone at the back of your neck, (Cervical 7.)

After that, the occipital, where the base of skull meets the neck.

Finally roll your eyes up and spiral at the crown, (the top-most part of your head.)

Smile and relax more as you repeat the process of learning by repeating the exercise of following through steps 1.-5 and 1.-6. a few times. You might repeat the entire pattern a total of three, six or nine sets.

To totally finish, smile back down to your belly button and collect a spiral of energy there at your navel. First spiral counter-clockwise from the navel outward, and then return inwardly in the clockwise direction back to your navel. Do about nine spirals in each direction, and if you like how it feels, do 18 each way. If you like it very, very much, do 36 spirals counter- clockwise and 24 clockwise. You can use your hands to help you to spiral. Feel as though all your energy is tucked safely like a jewel in your navel, only it is located within your belly.

Let yourself study playfully and lovingly, without performance anxiety or ego. You are awakening your spine, the electric messenger of orgasm which is the physical form of the feeling of rapture in your heart and/or bliss in your mind. The Ancient Chinese have known for thousands of years that these good feelings are transmitted to us if we can claim an ownership that is perfectly normal. Opening yourself toward this power is liberating! You will feel terrific! You will feel, after practicing regularly, perhaps for weeks or months for some, perhaps right away for others, that you are getting into the electric stations of your body, and adjusting your own energy rhythms. What does it matter if you are quick to get it or slow? It simply is not a race. Play at it and trust the ancient wisdom. It's free. There are no side effects, if you relax into it and let go. Your right time will come toward building your own TRUST in this ancient process. Always, always return to your navel and do the spiraling there, even if you want to quit mid stream. Please do that! This technique can be adapted for usage for newly menstruating teens, women who have various complaints after menopause, women looking to become pregnant, and women with a libido that needs balancing. These slight adaptations are given in classes you might take from a Universal Healing Tao teacher or can be found in books by Grand Master Mantak Chia. That web site link can be found on my web site below. You might also look for another teacher who might know similar techniques. Some teachers you may contact can give lessons to you over the phone. Seek and find your way to comforting and peaceful maturity as a spiritual, healthy being on this planet.

Weight Loss From Vinegar an Ancient Remedy

Vinegar is an ancient remedy which is gaining new found popularity for its weight loss properties.  There is a mounting body of anecdotal evidence coming on the heels of the Grapefruit and Lemon juice phenomena in dieting and weight loss circles.  There is also growing evidence that fruit juices of many kind have a spoiling effect in the absorption of chemicals and fats.

Wine too is hitting health circles as being good in moderation.  Acids are the common link between fruits and Vinegar. Vinegar is only after all spoiled wine or fermented fruit.  It is however Vinegar which has been given the top spot for its complete domination of the super good for you dietary supplement.  It seems that anecdotal evidence puts Vinegar in the forefront for its fat fighting efficiency.  But not just any vinegar.  It is unpasteurized unfiltered apple cider Vinegar that is at the top of the tree.  My own experience with this wonder liquid is one that I would share with you.

Two years ago my weight was 15 and a half stones. I am six foot tall and at the time had a spare tyre around my middle and I could certainly grab a handful of fat. I did not consider myself particularly overweight.  My mother happened to see the Doctor for feeling tired all the time and after blood tests was told that she had a Thyroid problem.  The Doctor also said that the blood tests revealed that she had extremely high Cholesterol levels and that this was often an hereditary condition which could be passed to other family members.  I agreed to have my Cholesterol level taken and I was dangerously high.

Seven point five as opposed to the recommended safe level of 4.5 here in the UK.  I was gobsmacked as I was now x percent more likely to die from heart attack so many percent more likely to suffer from strokes coronary etc.  I had to seriously look at my diet said the Doctor.  Well my diet was not good.  I liked fried food on a regular basis and ate all the fatty starchy foods that we all crave.  The problem was I did not feel able to compromise.  I did not want to take medication either due to associated short term memory loss.  I happened to come across an article that stated that cholesterol levels could be affected by Vinegar and started to research the topic.  I found that Apple Cider Vinegar was being touted as some sort of a cure all and in a skeptical frame of mind tried it.

I took a table spoon of Apple Cider Vinegar between meals in a glass of water three times a day.  I did not change any other aspect of my diet at this time.  I hoped rather than expected a difference when I next went for a blood test.  Sure enough the fateful day arrived and I was tested and weighed.  What the Doctor said nearly blew my mind.  I had lost one and a half stones in weight and my fasting blood sugar was down to 4.5 the national safe limit!  The Doctor asked how my diet was going and I said "What Diet"!.

Since this time my curiosity about Vinegar has led me to research it further and I would like to list all its associated health benefits.  Unfortunately you have not got the time to read it all and I don't have the time to write them all down but to name just a few claims made for this extraordinary liquid a short list of health benefits which is by no means exhaustive.  Obesity, Cholesterol Hemorrhoids, Piles, Sore Throat, Hangovers, Gallstones, stress, heart disease, external injury, nail fungus and the list goes on and on.  Some of the preparations are for external poultices and some for internal.  I hope that you found this article useful.  I would be happy for you to share it around or reprint it, but please leave my links intact.  I do however caution you that the above was my experience and I do not make any health claims in relation to any other individual.  If you are overweight or suspect high Cholesterol I advise that you see a Doctor.

Medicinal Herbs For Skin - Ancient Remedies For Modern Problems

Have you ever noticed that the more modern our society becomes, the more we look back to the wisdom of earlier times to find answers to our problems? Skin care is a perfect example. This trend toward looking back to ancient remedies can be seen in the rising demand for herbal skin care products. It is becoming less and less acceptable to use facials and creams made from synthetic chemicals. Consumers want to treat their problem skin in the healthiest, most natural way possible.

It only stands to reason that using medicinal herbs for skin would be an excellent method for repairing the skin and maintaining its beauty. Ancient knowledge of the healing properties of herbs meant using them in medicines to treat illnesses. Also, herbs have always been used in cooking to make food more healthful. Using herbal skin care products means, in essence, feeding your skin to make it healthy. Remedies that are truly healing treat the skin from the inside out.

Cleansing the face in ancient times involved the use of herbs and natural substances to clean, moisturize and protect the skin. Gentle exfoliation was achieved by combining natural substances like corn meal, dried lavender and rose petals to slough off dead skin while leaving the face soft, smooth and smelling nice.

Today, you can find herbal skin care products that cleanse and exfoliate the skin with natural, active ingredients like Kaolin, an extract from a special New Zealand clay, which absorbs oil and gently pulls out grime from your skin. Boosting the cleansing effects comes from adding Bentone Gel, another special type of clay, that's mixed with emollients. Fragrances are omitted since they are usually created with potentially harmful chemicals.

Natural moisturizers, like jojoba oil, used for centuries by native Americans, along with avocado and macadamia nut oil, soften and protect with natural properties that don't irritate or inflame the skin.

Facial masks aren't anything new, either. Our female ancestors made healing masks from oat meal, egg white and honey. Following that natural prescription, modern, herbal-based masks include healing ingredients like Manuka Honey, made from the manuka bush, and Allantoin, a natural compound found in some herbs, that helps soothe and reduce inflammation.

Medicinal herbs for skin have been around for thousands of years. In our modern times, it's fortunate that you can take advantage of these ancient remedies through the convenience of herbal skin care products. Unlike your ancestors, who gathered herbs and formulated their own facial treatments, nowadays all you have to do is read a label to ensure that the product you're buying contains the natural, healing substances that have stood the test of time.

Dittany of Crete - The Newest Ancient Remedy

The "miracle" herb Dittany of Crete (Origanum dictamnus) has been hailed as a panacea for all that ails you. As a therapeutic and healing herb, Dittany of Crete is one of the best herbs for health and wellness. It is also suggested to be useful as a relaxant for stress, as an aid for digestion, in promoting anti-aging, as a relief for acne, eczema, cellulite, muscular aches and pains, headaches and period pains. It is also well known for its aphrodisiac qualities!

It is currently enjoying a new and ever growing popularity throughout the world, and the health and wellness industry is beginning to take notice of this rare and elusive plant.

But there is nothing new about this amazing herb. It has been growing wild on the mountainsides and gorges of the Greek Island of Crete since ancient times. It grows wild only on Crete and nowhere else in the world.

Dittany of Crete has been studied, revered and written about throughout the ages. It was believed that the Bronze Age civilisation known as the Minoans who inhabited Crete some 5000 years ago knew the benefits of Dittany of Crete and used it for curing ailments and for beautifying their skin and hair.

Ancient Greek scholars such as Hippocrates, Aristotle and Theophrastus all mentioned the benefits of Dittany of Crete in various ancient writings. Later in the Roman Era poets, writers and philosophers such as Virgil, Cicero and Pliny the elder all commented on the virtues of Dittany. Later still, during the Classical Renaissance period, European scholars, herbalists and botanists such as Gerald, Dapper and Culpepper renewed interest into the efficacy of Dittany.

And now, in this technological age, the secret of what has been hailed a "miracle" plant is well and truly out. Dittany of Crete is now available worldwide as a dried herb, as an herbal tea, as an essential oil used in aromatherapy, and as an ingredient in anti-aging natural beauty products.

Ancient Remedies For Premature Ejaculation

It may come as a surprise to some to discover that Premature Ejaculation is not a newly discovered disease, and in fact, has been known about for many centuries, as can be seen when exploring some of the ancient remedies spoken of, about this issue. In the following article, I will introduce some of the concepts behind the Ancient Indian beliefs on how to remedy Premature Ejaculation.

In the days of the Ancient Indians, it was a common occurrence for the Maharajas to have had many wives, even to numbers as high as 100 wives, in some cases. Although this fact sheds a degree of danger when thinking about sexually transmitted diseases, it also sheds a light on the habits of the male. For example, even with only 10 wives, a Maharaja would have to satisfy more than one wife per day, as an average. To do this, they must have known some kind of technique or lifestyle, that has since been lost in time, which allowed them to perform at their best.

Although the amount of sufferers of Premature Ejaculation have risen in modern times, even in the time of the Ancient Maharajas, this was a problem that men had to face. For this reason, and the reason stated above, being that the husband was required to be in peak condition to satisfy many wives, the ancient doctors of the time, who studied a form of medicine known as Ayurvedic Healing, took it upon themselves to learn and discover as much as they could about Premature Ejaculation and it's effective remedies. Another reason for the development of effective remedies of this problem, was the extremely lucrative reward that was paid for successful techniques and herbal remedies.

After much study and researching of the problem, the Ancient Ayurvedic Doctors had finally agreed on the most prominent cause of Premature Ejaculation. In the Ancient Ayurvedic view, the problem arises when an imbalance of a vital energy in the body has occurred or is occurring. The problem would remain until balance was restored. The vital energy that was found to be in imbalance by the Ancient Indian Doctors was what is called the Vata.

Further research made by the Ancient Indians, lead to the discovery of different herbal treatments, that when applied correctly to the body, would help to restore and sustain balance in the Vata. Below are a few of the more common herbal applications that are believed to aide in the restoration of the Vata and to remedy Premature Ejaculation.

The first of these herbal remedies takes little preparation and uses ingredients readily available at the supermarket or health food store, however, for the best effects, if these products can be gathered from organic, and unprocessed, sources, the effects will be more potent. For this remedy, one should take an Almond nut and crush it in a mortar and pestle until it is crumbled. The crumbled Almond is then placed into a glass of milk, and consumed. This drink is taken twice a day. The effect should be noticeable within a week.

The next remedy we will look at involves a very similar procedure as the Almond remedy listed above. This time, one would take a teaspoon of Ginseng and then add this to a glass of warm to hot milk. This remedy is also drunk twice daily and is usually taken upon waking in the morning and on going to bed of a night time.

The effect of both this remedy, using Ginseng, and also the remedy mentioned above, using Almond, are said to help prolong the time it takes to reach ejaculation. Both of these remedies are taken orally as a herbal supplement and may be taken with other such herbal remedies also. The Ayurvedic Doctors of Ancient India put great emphasis on the importance of keeping a diet that complements the Vata. The common element shared between most Vata balancing foods, is that they seem to be very low in cholesterol.

As well as herbal remedies that were to be eaten or drunk, the Ayurvedic Doctors of Ancient India, also came up with other herbal remedies that were to be used externally, such as this next one, which involves an oil named Taila Oil.

This oil is used by being massaged into the penis until erection is reached and the oil has been well massaged in. The benefits gained from Taila Oil are said to be helpful in strengthening the penis and muscles as well as helping to sustain erection longer and prolong the effects of premature ejaculation. This oil is a little less commonly found as the two previous ingredients, however, can usually be found at most good health food shops.

Next the Ayurvedic Healers found two other techniques, which did not require any ingredients and could be practiced at almost any time in almost any place, without disturbing others. These techniques are common to many different healing systems and have many more benefits than simply helping to remedy Premature Ejaculation, however, we shall focus on the benefits for Premature Ejaculation sufferers.

The first of these techniques is a very common practice, that many people have attempted, or still practice now, and that can benefit all of the systems of the body and help promote stronger health. It is Meditation. One of the main benefits that can be gained from regular meditation is shown where Meditation seems to help us avoid negative mentality and attitude, and also seems to allow us to center and compose ourselves. The immediate advantage here is that, by avoiding these negative states and freeing ourselves of negative emotions, we are much less likely to suffer Premature Ejaculation that is brought on by anxiety in one form or another. And lastly, Meditation can help us by helping to strengthen our mental abilities, thus making it easier to control our ejaculation a little more effectively by mind alone.

The last technique that we will look at now is very similar to the Meditation technique that is mentioned above, however this technique goes one step further again by introducing body or muscular control as well as mind control. The technique is known as Yoga. As mentioned above, the major benefit that Yoga brings, that wasn't present simply through meditation, is that this more complex technique involves not only meditation, and control of the mind, but also the benefits of teaching you to control your body as well, to be control your breathing, and at the same time to strengthen your constitution and mental and physical health.

All of these techniques and remedies were used in ancient times to combat the problem of Premature Ejaculation, which as the records show, even the Ancient Maharajas were prone to. However thanks to the wisdom and determination of those wise Ancient Healers known as the Ayurvedics, we now have some very good leads to follow and techniques to try.

An Ancient Remedy to Get Pregnant - Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used for centuries to treat and prevent illnesses. It is believed to work by stimulating "pathways" that carry energy flow throughout your body. Sometimes these pathways can become blocked or stagnant due to an illness or a damaged or improperly functioning immune system.

Long, thin needles are inserted into specific areas along the pathways. By stimulating these pressure points, balance is restored and a natural healing process can begin.

What's really interesting is, the physiologic mechanism by which acupuncture seems to affect the uterus and reproductive system hasn't really been identified, yet the researchers found that as a practical matter, it seems to work.

Of course, some in the medical community dismiss the idea of acupuncture as a remedy for anything because there is no scientific evidence of "pathways" that conduct energy throughout the body. When it comes to mainstream medicine, treatments that aren't exactly understood scientifically, are often dismissed. But because of the obvious success rates in these studies, acupuncture is steadily growing in acceptance, and is now often recommended by fertility specialists for their patients.

And just think, if it helps women who are undergoing IVF (who generally have more significant fertility issues), imagine the possibilities for those of you who just need a little helpful boost.

A mixture of Chinese herbs is sometimes used in conjunction with acupuncture treatments. These herbs are touted by Chinese medicine to improve fertility in men and women.

If you decide to try the acupuncture route to pregnancy, first determine what is required of acupuncturists in your state. Seek out a fully trained and licensed practitioner, preferably someone who specializes in acupuncture to improve fertility, gather as much information as you can. You may also want to take into consideration that many insurance companies don't cover acupuncture treatments, although it's becoming increasingly popular to include in medical insurance plans.

Acupuncture may seem a little scary at first - needles being poked into your body - but a good acupuncturist will insert them so that you'll never know it's happening. Not only that, it can be an extremely relaxing experience.

Olive Leaves, an Ancient Remedy

Olive Leaves are an ancient remedy that goes back thousands of years. At one point in their history they were revered because the ancient Egyptians believed them to have heavenly powers and so an extract was made and reserved for the mummification of their kings.

Today we know a lot more about the health benefits of this plant. The Mediterranean people in particular really appreciate the qualities that olives have to offer. Their diet is rich in this fruit and it is known to give these people great protection from heart disease.

Research, particularly in Europe, has opened our eyes to the many benefits that oleuropein, the bio active, chemical compound found in olive leaves, has to offer. Some of the studies have come up with the following results:

- It increases blood flow in the coronary arteries

- Relieve arrhythmias

- Prevents intestinal muscle spasms

- Has a powerful anti-bacterial effect

- Inactivates bacteria by dissolving the outer lining of microbes.

- Inhibits oxidation of low-density lipoproteins, "bad cholesterol"

- Helps with hypertension and diabetes

It is also able to do help with a lot more conditions than those that I have just mentioned.

Having a regular intake of oleuropein is important for your health and vitality of the body. For the last decade or so the diet of the Western World has seen a steady decline in nutritional value and one of the ways to reverse that decline is to take nutraceuticals, as part of your daily diet.

Nutraceutials refer to the nutritional healing aspect of plants and plant extracts and one of the best nutraceuticals that I know of, and take myself on a daily basis, is a multi-nutritional supplement that contains over 70 life enhancing nutrients that have all been derived from natural plant sources.

Some of the ingredients in this terrific synergistic blend include decaffeinated green tea extract, resveratrol, curcumin and oleuropein; all of these ingredients protect from heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's disease and many more conditions.

It is a fantastic way to provide protection for your body against the ravages of old age.

Low Libido - Increase Libido an Ancient Remedy Revealed That is Proven to Work!

Libido, or our cumulative sex drive and it can become elusive and disappear and klow libido can ruin our lives. In Asia, and in Eastern thought, the libido is connected to, and a part of our life force "chi" and thus, as the libido disappears, so does some of your zest and desire to live. Now Lets look at how to reclaim your libido and your life...

The way below to achieve more from life and increase low libido maybe thousands of years old but it works and makes total sense so lets look at it.

Why Does the Libido Disappear?

There are several reasons, but the chief amount them are:

o Health reasons. You health is suffering.

o Lack of intellectual stimulation. The chi is holistic, and as the spiritual and mental stimulation diminish, so does the physical.

o Association with unpleasant people

o Persistent Stress

o Mental self-degradation.

If you think you are old, no longer attractive, or for whatever reason, no longer desirable, the libido will quickly recede into memory only.

How the Libido Can Return to You

o You must strive to be healthy and physically fit.

The libido, being composed of chi, will become dissipated otherwise. See a doctor, join a gym, take long walks, eat well, lose weight, and remain always clean. In these habits, the chi excels, and libido flourishes.

Take daily natural herbs and vitamins to fill each of your body's cells with health giving and libido supportive nutrients. You can get many great ones at the health store and take them as supplements - simply see our other articles for the best ones.

o Do not sit in front of a television when you have free time.

You must, if you wish to attract the libido back to yourself, stimulate also your intellectual facilities. Learn a new language, practice yoga, go to live theatre, do all that which can keep the mind occupied. From this, life force springs, even in advanced ages, and a sort of youth is imparted to you. Libido is so attracted to an active mind.

o You must eliminate all association with unpleasant people.

A smiling face brings joy to your life. Each frown, each argument, each complaint acts as a barrier to happiness and without happiness the libido flees.

o Learn to manage stress.

A stressful person does not feel like reproducing themselves, or losing themselves in the ecstasy of orgasm. In fact, stress is the #1 cause of both ED (erectile dysfunction) and PE (pre-mature ejaculation). If something is a constant stressor in your life, you are being signaled to change either what you are doing, or where you living.

o You must like at least, yourself.

If you do not, you can expect that your libido will disappear for good. You will become disinterested in sex and later, incapable of it. Improve your self-image. Find out what it is you do good in and understand that quality makes you special. Everyone has it, and understanding your self will give you self-esteem. In this mental attitude, libido feels at home.

A Zen meditation to increase libido, and sexual prowess.

Sitting in a quiet place, comfortable in a chair or on the floor, close your eyes. Begin to watch your breath. See the incoming and outgoing breath as a flow of energy, of life force, as chi. See the incoming chi reach the lungs and then begin to fill your whole body with light.

As you feel this wonderful feeling, say mentally to yourself that you are a lion of strength, and power. That your reproductive power is unlimited; feel the creative force within making you so. Think it, imagine it, believe it, and accept it. Enjoy this feeling as long as possible. Then slowly watch your breath again, and open your eyes.

This meditation should last for 10 minutes or more. Done daily, you will feel your libido increasing and if a man, copious amounts of sperm forming within you. If you are a woman you will feel like the earth in springtime, fertile and the womb of all creation. With such feelings, the libido is at home, and can stay with you all your life.

Libido is a reflection of you! When you are acting to your full potential your libido will return and you will not only conquer low libido but get more from life.

Ancient Ayurveda and Ayurvedic Remedies

Ancient Ayurveda and Ayurvedic remedies date back around 5000 years when a very learned sage Srila Vysadeva wrote the Vedas (Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and Atharvaveda). The Vedas had within them a branch known as the ayurveda which means 'The Science of life'.

Truly, Ayurveda is the science of life. It tells us how by just changing our food habits according to our body needs and type (Doshas i.e. Pitta, Vayu and Kapha), we can transform our lives. The ayurveda contained such ayurvedic remedies which cured unimaginable diseases by just using natural herbal extracts. It is really surprising and at the same time interesting to know that how people 5000 years back discovered and utilized the healing properties of the nature. Neither did they have any latest equipment that we have today nor any chemical compounds that we use. But nevertheless, they created a huge corpus of Ayurvedic remedies on their own.

The Susruta Samhita and the Chakra Samhita were some of the works written during the Vedic era. The Chakra Samhita Sutra or simply Chakra Samhita is a work of several authors. It has a total of 120 chapters and is about how the patient should be judged. It has been shortened down to 10 simple points which are-

Constitution

Abnormality

Essence

Stability

Body measurements

Diet suitability

Psychic strength

Digestive capacity

Physical fitness

AgeThe Susruta Samhita is a text on all of the concepts of surgery. It contains 184 chapters and detailed description of 1120 illnesses, 700 medicinal plants, a detailed study on Anatomy, 64 preparations from mineral sources and 57 preparations based on animal sources. Cataract surgery was performed by Susruta before 800BC. Imagine a time so old and people here in India had already started practicing surgery without any latest equipment, medicines, hospitals, and others.

The third major text about Ayurvedic remedies is Ashtanga Hridaya, which is a combined work of Charak and Shushrut. These books are believed to be around 1,200 years old.

Hygiene is given utmost importance in ayurvedic remedies. It includes regular bathing, skin care, cleansing of teeth and eye washing.

Ayurvedic remedies use all plant based medicines and treatments. Minerals like sulfur, arsenic, lead, copper etc are also given to the patient as required and prescribed. This process of mixing minerals with herbs is known as Rasa Shastra.

Alcohol was used as a narcotic for the patient undergoing the operation. Both oil and tar were used to stop bleeding. There were many other ways to stop bleeding like ligation of blood vessels, cauterization by heat, application of herbal or animal preparations and other medicinal preparations to facilitate clotting so that not much blood drains out of the body. Honey made by honey bees was used to treat burns.

Application of turmeric boiled in mustard oil was used to relieve pain. 5000 years back there were no calcium tablets for calcium deficiency so people ate garlic. And garlic like today's calcium tablets when consumed in excess cause side effects, but this little garlic didn't do so.

Atharva Veda is one of the most ancient books in India also has 114 hymns about the cures of diseases. Ayurvedic remedies for various diseases and the formation of the diseases originated from these hymns.

We can see the influence of Ayurveda not only in India but also in the rest of the world. People come from all over the world to learn the art of Ayurveda. Avicenna and Razi Sempion translated the Ayurvedic texts into Arabic and established Islamic medicine.

In Europe, during the 16th Century, Paracelsus, who is also known as the father of Western medicine, adopted and invented a system of medicine which was influenced strongly from Ayurveda and Ayurvedic remedies. British physicians who traveled to India saw rhinoplasty being performed by native methods. This was published in the Gentleman's Magazine 1794. Joseph Constantine Carpue, an English surgeon, spent 20 years in India to study local plastic surgery methods. He was then able to perform a major surgery in 1885 in the Western world.

Various body parts which come under the doshas are-

Kapha

Sinuses

Nostrils

Bronchi

ThroatPitta

Liver

Spleen

Gall Bladder

Stomach

Duodenum

PancreasVata

Small Intestines

Large intestinesGenerally, every human being is a combination of two doshas. Some are purely dominated by one. While in others, we find that they are a combination of all three doshas (which is rare). In Ayurvedic remedies for these doshas, sometimes different people with the same disease receive different herbs. This is so because the nature of each individual is different. First the person has to be diagnosed of the imbalance and other developments in the body due to which there is a presence of some disease. Then it is determined that disorder of which dosha introduced this disease in the body.

Ayurveda is not only about herbs and medicines but it is also an art of living. It is original and safe and the Ayurvedic remedies are complete. It covers all the fields of medicine and is known as the complete medical system still in existence. Even though in today's world there are other forms of medicine but we can't call them complete. They are still lagging behind in some field or the other.

Ayurveda and Ayurvedic remedies gave us a new view towards life. It taught us that everyone can be beautiful and healthy inside and out irrespective of class or status. One doesn't need to cost much while going for Ayurvedic remedies. Ayurveda is an excellent example to show that nature contains cures for all diseases, even though modern science is still not able to find cures for chronic diseases like cancer.

Ayurveda, being such an old text, has the cure for cancer too. Even though the results are not visible at the early stages of Ayurvedic remedies but when it shows results' it leaves everyone baffled. We just need to have patience and faith.

Dr Shows Ancient Remedy Provides Diabetic Treatment

Thousand-Year-Old Weight Loss Remedy Supported By Modern Research

In a recently published book called The Fat-Loss Pharmacy, Dr. Harry Preuss of Georgetown University's Medical Center uncovers ancient and not-so-ancient natural remedies that can help control, even reverse Type 2 diabetes.

Two products are noted for their benefit in reducing the two primary causes of Type 2 diabetes - excess body weight and uncontrolled blood sugar levels.

The first product is called garcinia cambogia. It's an Asian fruit extract, found in India, that's been used for thousands of years by ancient tribesmen. They claimed that it helped reduce their appetites during over long trips.

Dr. Preuss applied modern, scientific testing methods (double blind placebo tests) to determine if this ancient ingredient actually worked. Based on these studies, he found that it actually reduced hunger and reduced weight. Interestingly, among people tested, the product helped them lose body fat, not muscle. As a result, Dr. Preuss found that the ancient tribesmen had found the perfect weight loss ingredient - one that grows naturally in the Indian plains.

A second natural product tested by Dr. Preuss to benefit Type 2 diabetics was niacin-bound chromium. For years, researchers have found that a lack of chromium, often caused by poor diets or excess consumption of high fructose corn sweeteners, created a biological imbalance in our bodies, triggering Type 2 diabetes.

Numerous chromium products are sold, but many are difficult to absorb or are unsafe for long-term use. Dr. Preuss tested the niacin-bound version and found that it actually restored chromium levels among users and lowered blood sugar levels within eight weeks.

Both products, garcinia cambogia and niacin-bound chromium, can be purchased over-the-counter and may help Type 2 diabetics control even reverse excess body weight gain and lower blood sugar levels.

Ayurvedic Oil - An Ancient Remedy to Try at Home!

Although they may appear esoteric to the general public, Ayurvedic Remedies are recognized as a science in their country of origin - India. Students of ayurvedic medicine must be well versed in physiology, anatomy, pathology, diagnosis of problems and provision of treatment. An ayurvedic physician, who can take up to 6 years to complete his or her education, would never recommend ayurvedic medicines based on a guess.

One prevalent image of this form of medicine is Ayurvedic Oil, and with good reason. In ayurvedic philosophy, the body of an exhausted person is akin to that of a dried twig, bereft of "greenness" and susceptible to harm, or illness. The use of oil in ayurvedic medicine is based on the principle of making a body supple once more. Such oil can be administered internally (oil pulling) or externally (massage). Simply put, "oil pulling", involved swilling a tablespoon of oil in the mouth up to thrice daily and up to 20 minutes per session.

External application of oil for massage is carried out on the scalp or body. There are a number of oils that can be used as Ayurvedic hair oil, among them being coconut oil. Aside from this, oils that are used in ayurvedic scalp massage include dhathri, nutrich, trichup or sesa oils. Whatever oil you choose, it should be warmed to approximately body temperature before you commence the scalp massage. This is easily accomplished by pouring the oil in to a bowl or bottle and warming it for a while in hot water.

When performing a scalp massage with such Ayurvedic oil, it is best to use the oil sparingly. Take only as much as needed and apply it to the area with your fingertips. A slow, circular massage motion enables relaxation of the nervous system and the massage recipient should be able to feel the tension draining away. Conversely, energetic and brisk massaging will stimulate the circulation and increase energy. The two movements can be alternated or mixed as needed.

The duration for which oil is left on the scalp depends on a number of factors, including the severity of the individual's condition, season and time during which the oil has been applied as well as the dosha that is at fault. Sometimes, leaving the oil on overnight can bring about better results! For added efficacy, oil can be applied to the back of the scalp, the ears and the inside of the feet. Additionally, the individual can look forward to soft, conditioned hair if you wrap a warm, damp towel around the head.

Use of ayurvedic products is not confined to the scalp alone. There are many benefits to using ayurvedic massage oil. The act of anointing a body this way is called abhyanga, and is usually carried out before a bath. The herbal oil used is usually medicated, and warmed in hot water before application. The benefits of abhyanga include more supple skin, which leads to a more youthful appearance, better vision and a general feeling of better health.

Consistent abhyanga also can increase longevity, improve sleep and skin conditions, improve and stimulate circulation, and confer vigor and tone to all limbs and body tissues. Best of all, it ensures harmonization of the doshas (constitutions).

Not everyone has the ability to become an ayurvedic physician, but some knowledge of the way ayurvedic medicine improves health is always beneficial. Simply reading about ayurvedic medicines makes a person think about his or her health and the ways his or her doshas may be in discordance. Thanks to their insistence on natural products, ayurvedic remedies find acceptance among most people.

Next time you feel like having a massage you may want to consider treating yourself to this rejuvenating, ancient remedy, using your favorite ayurvedic oil.

Top 5 Milk Thistle Uses - Modern Benefits From an Ancient Remedy

Many of the herbal supplements in use today have roots in the medicines of ancient times. One such substance is silymarin, or milk thistle, which was used to treat issues of the liver and gall bladder, mainly, but also snake bites and jaundice. The main milk thistle uses of today still revolve around the liver, but have also branched out as this supplement is one of the most widely studied herbs to date.

Silymarin comes from the dried seeds of the milk thistle plant, Silybum marianum, and is found in capsules, tablets, liquid extract, and tinctures made from the crushed or powdered seeds. Usually when it is used in supplements, it should be standardized to contain at least 70%-80% silymarin.

Liver

The most well-known, and documented milk thistle uses involves the liver, both protecting and detoxifying. It can protect the liver against damage by substances like alcohol, and acetaminophen, and also can promote regeneration of affected tissue. Additionally, silymarin increases the effectiveness of how the liver detoxifies alcohol and other toxins. This is very helpful for two very serious conditions: cirrhosis of the liver and chronic hepatitis.

Skin

Milk thistle can also act as a demulcent, which means it is very soothing to mucous membranes, along with moisturizing them. That has important meaning for those with skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, or even just dry, cracked skin.

Inflammation

Silymarin has anti-inflammatory properties, which especially can help with kidney and bladder irritations, but also general issues with inflammation by actually inhibiting select inflammation-causing factors. Cholesterol

Milk thistle has been shown in some studies to help lower cholesterol by increasing the liver's ability to remove LDL (bad) cholesterol.

Gall Bladder

Silymarin helps to stimulate the flow of bile out of the bile duct, while also decreasing inflammation in an already inflamed gall bladder.

There are many other milk thistle uses being explored by science, including as an adjunct for treatment of certain cancers, HIV/AIDS, and also for its antioxidant properties. The best way to enjoy the benefits of silymarin is in a supplement that also contains ingredients to work in synergy with milk thistle.

Ancient Remedies May Help a Variety of Ailments

The earth was created so perfectly. Everything we need to sustain and nurture life is right here - food, water shelter, air -- and yes, plants that heal the body. Large pharmaceutical companies manufacture and sell drugs that have the same or similar effects as the healing or pain-relieving plants, themselves. The drug companies have synthetically copied many of nature's own healing plants. Among the better known ones is digitalis for heart patients, copied from the plant digitalis or foxglove. An even more pervasive example is aspirin, copied from the herb white willow bark.

Our ancestors got along just fine living off the land and using nature's gifts to help with many common maladies. For thousands of years, the following botanicals have been recognized and used for their analgesic ability:

Arnica, a perennial belonging to the Sunflower family, has been used medicinally since the 1500's by both Europeans and Native Americans. Arnica is native to the mountains of Europe and Siberia, and is cultivated in North America. (Large amounts of the plant can be poisonous if eaten.)0 Arnica contains helenalin, which, according to studies, produces pain-relieving (analgesic) and anti-inflammatory effects in post-operative patients. Arnica is a vasodilator of subcutaneous blood capillaries, so it can improve circulation. Used topically, it has exhibited excellent anti-inflammatory properties and assists normal healing by facilitating the transport of blood and fluid accumulations through a dilating action of blood capillaries. Arnica is very effective for bruises, sprains, muscle aches, wound healing on unbroken skin, superficial phlebitis, rheumatic pain, inflammation of insect bites, and swelling due to fractures, overexerted muscles, and soft tissue trauma. Arnica is widely used in Germany to relieve a variety of minor ailments.

Comfrey is a plant that has been nicknamed "boneknit" or "boneset" for its ability to speed the healing of fractures, cartilage, connective tissue, and broken bones. A perennial that's native to Europe and Asia, Comfrey has been naturalized throughout North America. Not only does it help heal broken bones faster, but it also has been used with success in the healing of bruises and burns, and helps minimize the formation of scar tissue.

Ginger, a well-known root that's native to Asia, is now grown in a number of tropical countries, including India, Nigeria, and Haiti. Jamaica is the world's leading cultivator of ginger. Used for thousands of years, ginger is an ingredient in about half of all herbal formulas in traditional Chinese medicine. The properties and benefits ascribed to it include the following, according to reports and studies:

Ginger offers anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, due to the presence of zingibain, a proteloytic enzyme that inhibits certain hormones (prostaglandins) and their effect on bodily processes and systems.

Ginger can have a soothing effect on aching joints and muscles, and has warming properties, which can help provide relief from rheumatism

It has antispasmodic effects, often bringing relaxation to contracted, tight muscles.

Studies show that pain improvement can be achieved in cases of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia by ingesting 2-4 teaspoons of powdered ginger daily. More than 75% of the study's participants ended up notably free of pain.

Ginger improves cholesterol levels by increasing secretion of bile and hindering fat absorption

Ginger is believed to be more effective than garlic and onions in inhibiting substances that thicken the blood and encourage blood clotting

Many pregnant women will attest to its effectiveness as a treatment for nausea and morning sickness. It's also been shown to reduce motion sickness

Gingerols are stronger inhibitors of inflammatory prostaglandins than indomethacin, a potent pain management drug with many side effects.

Ginger can also help treat the common cold. Blending fresh shredded ginger root with hot tea has been know to bring a measure of relief to cold sufferers.

These herbs have been proven in studies to perform as well as or better than prescription drugs (cortisone, etc) for the reduction of pain, swelling, and inflammation.

With the current push to "go green" in our society, why not get back to our "roots" and discover some of the natural remedies that have stood the test of time.

Essential Oils - Anise - An Ancient Remedy for Coughs

Anise (Pimpinella anisum) is in the parsley family of botanical plants. The essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the seeds and it is grown primarily in Turkey where it is distilled. Anise is an annual herb that grows less than 3 feet in height. It has delicate leaves and white flowers. Traditionally anise has been grown in Turkey since the 14th century and in England since the 16th century where it was widely used as a domestic spice. Historically this oil was used for coughs and bronchitis but also as a treatment for whooping cough. In Turkey a popular alcoholic drink called raki is made from the seed. Anise is listed in the Dioscorides' De Materia Medica AD 78, Europe's first medical guide.

How Can Anise Essential Oil Be of Benefit Today?

Today we would identify anise as helpful to the respiratory system and it can be stimulating and supportive to the digestive system. It is also considered anti-coagulant, anesthetic/analgesic, antioxidant, diuretic and antitumoral. It can be used for arthritis/rheumatism and for cancer. Pharmaceutical companies have used anise essential oil in cough mixtures and lozenges and to mask undesirable flavors in drugs.

The essential oil can be taken internally but is best used in blends. It blends well with peppermint, fennel and spearmint. It can also be diluted 50-50 and applied on location, on the chakras or vita flex points, directly inhaled or diffused. Because of its high anethole level which is known to cause dermatitis, anise is best avoided in allergic and inflammatory skin conditions and avoided during pregnancy.

Qigong Exercises - Ancient Remedy For Modern Day Ailments

Studies after studies are proving Qigong to offer extremely wonderful benefits to its practitioners - at times confounding the rules of modern medicine. Because of this, Qigong (also spelled Chi Kung or Qi gong) - an ancient Chinese art of healing - is becoming popular in the West due to modern medicines' inability to offer satisfactory cure or remedy for common diseases.

While modern medicine often seeks to find a cure for a symptom, e.g. recommending pain killer medicine for the relief of migraine, Qigong, on the other hand, like many traditional medicines, offer a solution by working on the root of the problem to eliminate the symptom eventually. For example, the onset of migraine could be due to lack of sleep, anxiety, stressful-lifestyle, bad diet habits and etc. Qigong works on addressing these problems first.

Qigong believes that illness is the result from interruption to the flow of Chi or universal energy in the body. Chi, in simple terms, is the principle energy or universal life force that sustains all lives, and by balancing this energy to remove the blockages, optimum well-being is achieved. If followed accordingly through expert guidance, this universal energy can be harnessed to clear blocked pathways within the body and restore depleted energy.

To achieve this, Qigong emphasizes a set of gentle exercises combining slow physical movements, visualization, relaxation, rhythmic breathing exercises. Systematic training of Qigong exercises helps one to be aware of the Chi within the body and harness it to heal affected parts within the body. This is the same energy that expert Qigong practitioners use to heal others.

Practitioners of Qigong can quickly feel the changes in themselves through the following benefits:

· Inner calmness and steadiness

· Better stamina and vitality

· Enhanced immune and endocrine system

· Reduced anxiety and stress levels through balanced brain chemistry

· Improved cardiovascular, circulatory, digestive and respiratory functions

· Improved balance, posture, flexibility and strength

· Lack or total elimination of cold and fever

Although results vary from one person to another, Qigong have been clinically proven to successfully heal diseases as diverse as cancer, fibromyalgia, blood disorders, heart defects, migraine, weight problems, allergies, depression and many more.

Ancient Chinese Remedies and Anti Aging Remedies

Traditional Chinese medicine is being used around the world to fight aging of the skin.
